Classes run for 11 consecutive weeks and are broken into two sessions:
Class Instruction- Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7 , 9 & 11
Practice Sessions with Assignments- Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10
Class Syllabus
Week 1: Dot placement [ie, review making triangles and squares through dot placement, moving dots already laid down, fixing bad dots]
Assignment: square and triangular dots,dots on dots
Week 3: Warrings states beads with teeny tiny dots - these two will teach basic control and use of heat to manipulate dot and general glass flow.
Assignment: make your own variation of warring states - one with raised dots, one smooth
Week 5: Stringer control begins! making straight lines and what you can do with them
Assignment: plaid beads
Week 7: Spirals, hearts, triangles, squares and circles all made using stringers
Assignment: natural inspirations. lines and dots are found in a multitude of variations right outside your window. Take a picture of a bug or plant or
whatever you like and make a bead to match
Week 9: Cosmic influences - reduction stringers, silver foil, maybe some enamel - it will be a surprise!
Assignment: make a bead with a surface of some metallic, some not. Hint: you will use stringers and dots...
Week 11: Apply clear casing over your stringer-decorated beads.
Focus on ways to avoid trapping bubbles and keep the casing thin.

Making and using your own Millefiori - Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced

When: January 25, 2011- April 4, 2011
Time: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Duration: 11 weeks
There may be a possible add on of 2 more weeks with a special project. This will then extend the class to April 18, 2011
Students and instructor will decide at a later date on this extension
Fee: $375.00 cost for 11 weeks.
Pay per week, $35.00 on nights of instruction
$30.00 on nights of practice sessions
Extended classes will be paid for as you go

Class Syllabus,
Week 1
Discussion on the history and making of millefiori, followed by demonstrations on making simple millefiori.
Time allowing students will make their own millefiori or spend remaining time with their own projects.
Week 2
Students will work on making millefiori
Week 3
Demo on cutting millefiori into murrinie, making beads and pendants using the murrinie.
Students will have time to practice.
Week 4
Students will work on making beads and pendants using their murrinie.
Week 5
Demonstration on making buttons using murrinie as the focal
Students will have time to practice.
Week 6
Students will work on making a set of buttons using their murrinie
Week 7
Demonstration on making a drawer pull using murrinie as the focal
Students will have time to practice.
Week 8
Students will work on making a set of 4 drawer pulls using their murrinie
There will be extra drawer pull hardware available for purchase for those
that want to make more then 4 pieces.
Week 9
Demonstration on making marbles. Murrinie will also be included in this demo
Students will have time to practice.
Week 10
Students will practice making marbles with or without murrinie
Week 11
Class will either end or continue on for another 2 weeks.
If the class continues, there will be a surprise demo with time to practice.
If the class ends, there will be a short demo, discussion, critic, with munchies.
